The 49.6MW Primus project in Colorado is undergoing a development update by ReVolve Renewable.
Advantageous exposure
The Primus project is located in Kit Carson County, Colorado. Its development started in August 2021 under the aegis of ReVolve Renewable. Indeed, Kit Carson County enjoys some of the highest wind speed averages in the United States.
To date, the development of the Primus project is focused on site control, interconnection and energy resource assessment. The wind site is located north of Burlington along the eastern plains of Colorado. It is easily accessible by the local road network and easily connected to the transmission network.
The Primus project has sufficient land capacity. It also authorizes the possibility of entering into long-term leases term of up to 25 years. Regarding interconnections, the project will be able to benefit from the improvement of the existing infrastructure up to a total of 5000MW.
By the end of 2021, the company will An informational study on the interconnection with Tri State, finalized in February 2022. Thus, this study provides a detailed overview of the likely interconnection methodology for the Primus project. The results of the Phase 1 study will be available in the first quarter of 2023.
A long procedure
In 2022, ReVolve obtains authorization from Kit Carson County for the installation of a meteorological measuring mast on the project site. Harness Energy LLC, a company specializing in the installation and repair of weather towers, completed the installation in September. Thus, the collection of climate data begins for a minimum period of 12 months.
ReVolve finalizes the Permit schedule for the Primus project. The company plans to begin the various county and state permit processes once the Phase 1 Interconnection Study is completed. Permits take between 12 and 15 months to be issued after application.
The data collected by the weather mast over a 12-month period will be used to evaluate energy efficiency. This phase will be completed in the first quarter of 2023. ReVolve’s goal is to begin construction of the Primus project in 2024.
ReVolve has a portfolio of approximately 3600MW under development. In the future, the company is targeting 5,000MW of industrial-scale projects under development in the United States and Mexico. The company is rapidly expanding its portfolio of revenue-generating distributed generation assets.
