First Solar and Swift Current Energy Announce Agreement to Supply 2GW of Solar Modules For example, in 2025 and 2026, the company will deliver responsibly produced, high-performance thin-film solar modules.

Production centered in the United States

First Solar receives second order from Swift Current Energy. Indeed, earlier this year, Swift Current Energy ordered 1.2GW of solar modules. Eric Lammers, CEO of Swift Current Energy, states:

“It is crucial that we work with partners like First Solar who will not only provide us with high quality, responsibly manufactured products, but also certainty of supply. We are pleased to expand our partnership with First Solar.”

The advanced thin-film modules come from research and development centers in California and Ohio. The modules have a cadmium tellurium semiconductor layer. Finally, First Solar is involved in recycling by taking back closed-loop semiconductors for new modules.

An international company

By 2025, with investments in the U.S. and India, First Solar will have 20GW of annual production capacity. The company is currently building its third plant in Ohio. The group will invest $1.2 billion to expand its manufacturing footprint in the southeastern United States.

By 2025, First Solar’s annual production capacity in the U.S. is expected to exceed 10GW. In addition, the company also operates plants in Vietnam and Malaysia. Finally, it is also building a new plant in India to be commissioned in 2023.
