Siemens Gamesa and Hai Long Offshore Wind Project sign two agreements at Energy Taiwan in Taipei. This is Siemens Gamesa’s largest offshore wind power signing in Taiwan to date.

An ambitious project

Siemens Gamesa and Hai Long Offshore Wind Project enter into a partnership for three offshore wind projects in Taiwan. The collaboration between the two partners encompasses a total of three wind projects totaling 1044MW. Hai Long 2A will have a power of 300MW, Hai Long 2B of 232MW and Hai Long 3 of 512MW.

The agreement between the two partners provides for a 15-year service contract, with an option to extend to 20 years. Siemens Gamesa will provide the offshore logistics and operation and maintenance service facilities for all three projects. Marc Becker, CEO of Siemens Gamesa’s offshore business says:

“The collaboration between Siemens Gamesa and Hai Long paves the way for further important developments in the Taiwanese offshore wind sector. We look forward to realizing these projects and strengthening our leadership position in the Taiwanese offshore revolution.”

An industrial challenge

The partnership between Siemens Gamesa and Hai Long Offshore Wind Project plans to deploy 73 SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines. The installation of the wind turbines will take place 50km off the coast of Changhua County. In addition, each turbine will have a capacity of 14MW and a rotor diameter of 222 meters.

Siemens Gamesa also announced the expansion of its offshore nacelle assembly plant in Taichung. The expansion of the plant will more than triple the land area to 90,000 square meters. In addition, the expansion will be effective in the year 2024.
