Velto Renewables has finalised the acquisition of the Les Îlots Blandin floating solar plant, previously jointly owned with Q ENERGY. Located in Perthes, Haute-Marne, the 74.3 MW facility is now fully owned by Velto Renewables. The project covers 127 hectares and comprises more than 135,000 photovoltaic panels installed on floating structures, making it the largest of its kind in Europe.
A strategic scale-up for Velto
Already a 50% stakeholder, Velto Renewables consolidates its portfolio of assets in France. The plant is designed to produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 37,000 people, with an estimated avoidance capacity of 18,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions per year. The company will now oversee the long-term operation of the installation.
The project aligns with a strategy of converting disused industrial sites, demonstrating the potential of floating solar technology to utilise artificial water bodies. By incorporating such infrastructure, Velto Renewables strengthens its investment strategy in large-scale projects across the French territory.
A structuring partnership between the two groups
Les Îlots Blandin is part of a broader portfolio of projects being transferred from Q ENERGY to Velto Renewables. The long-term partnership signed earlier this year between the two companies includes a framework for future project divestments. This transaction marks a milestone in the implementation of that agreement.
Velto Renewables thus continues to expand its base of operational assets in Europe while securing high-output projects. With this acquisition, the company reinforces its foothold in a French market marked by an acceleration in floating photovoltaic developments, particularly on artificial or repurposed industrial sites.
