Nordex Group has announced a new order with SSE for the supply and installation of seven turbines across two wind power projects in the Aragón region of Spain. The Minguez and Portalrubio sites will have a combined installed capacity of 42 MW, with 19 MW for the former and 23 MW for the latter.
Strengthened industrial partnership in the region
The two wind farms will be equipped with Nordex Delta4000 turbines: four N163/5.X models on 116-metre tubular towers and three N163/6.X models installed on 119-metre towers. The components – towers, blades, and nacelles – will be manufactured locally in Spain, at the group’s industrial facilities located near the project sites.
This new contract also includes a 20-year Premium Service maintenance agreement, aimed at ensuring long-term operational reliability and optimised energy output for SSE. The order comes shortly before the commissioning of the Jubera wind farm, with a capacity of 64 MW, also developed in collaboration with Nordex.
Local capacity building and regional presence
The projects are located less than three hours from Nordex’s Barásoain factory, facilitating logistics and delivery schedules. The German company also operates a service centre in Zaragoza, providing technical support throughout the region.
Aragón remains one of the most active autonomous communities in Spain for wind power development, with numerous projects planned in the short and medium term. This new collaboration between Nordex and SSE confirms their role in advancing wind energy infrastructure in this strategic area.
