Sumit Majumdar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buffalo Biodiesel, has been appointed Lead Advisor Director of Energy and Limited Partner at Verite Capital Partners, an investment firm led by Don Jones. The appointment comes as Buffalo Biodiesel strengthens its operations and position in the renewable fuels sector.
Verite Capital Partners is a consulting and investment company focused on developing businesses in consumer, services, and resource sectors. In his new role, Majumdar will contribute his expertise in corporate governance and energy operations to Verite’s leadership while continuing his executive responsibilities at Buffalo Biodiesel.
A profile rooted in operations and markets
Before leading Buffalo Biodiesel, Majumdar held executive positions at several publicly listed companies in the United States and Germany, including one listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. His cross-sector experience in both public and private spheres, combined with his knowledge of capital markets, is seen as a strategic asset to Verite Capital Partners.
At Buffalo Biodiesel, Majumdar oversees the collection and processing of used cooking oil into feedstock for biodiesel production, a segment facing increasing logistical and security challenges. He has consistently highlighted the financial impact of organised used-oil theft, which affects the operational stability of local biofuel suppliers.
Improved access to capital and governance
According to Verite, Majumdar’s appointment strengthens the board by adding a leader with proven operational and regulated market experience. This collaboration could unlock new avenues of funding and expansion for Buffalo Biodiesel, while providing Verite with deeper insight into local energy challenges.
Majumdar’s role also includes identifying investment opportunities in adjacent sectors. His dual position as operator and investor is expected to help bridge strategic capital deployment with industrial realities, especially as securing local energy supply becomes an increasingly important factor.
