TotalEnergies and RWE launch the 15 MW Vilpion wind farm in Aisne

The Vilpion wind farm, resulting from a partnership between TotalEnergies and RWE, has been officially inaugurated in the Aisne region. This project covers the municipalities of Voharies, Saint-Gobert, Lugny, Houry, and Thiernu and consists of five turbines, each with a capacity of three megawatts. Fully operational since the commissioning of the first turbines in September 2023, the site now delivers a total installed capacity of 15 megawatts.

A structuring project for regional electricity production

The annual production of the Vilpion wind farm is estimated at 38 gigawatt hours. This amount of energy is equivalent to the electricity consumption, excluding heating, of more than 25,000 residents in metropolitan France. The project also aims to limit the sector’s carbon footprint, with an expected reduction of 68,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions over the full operating period of the facilities.

The site’s development involved consultation with local representatives and regional stakeholders. According to the management of TotalEnergies Renouvelables France, the project demonstrates the effectiveness of close coordination between industrial partners and regional actors in bringing renewable electricity production units to fruition.

RWE Renouvelables France welcomed the collective momentum that enabled the objectives set for the commissioning of the farm to be met.
