Energiekontor launches new investment in Nartum wind farm in Lower Saxony

Energiekontor AG confirms financial close for the Nartum wind farm, adding 23 megawatts to its owned portfolio and starting the construction phase in the Rotenburg district, Lower Saxony.

Energiekontor AG, a German developer and operator of wind and solar farms based in Bremen, announced it has finalised the financing for the Nartum wind farm project located in the Rotenburg district of Lower Saxony. This milestone enables the company to officially begin construction preparations, with the goal of integrating new capacity into its portfolio of owned assets.

Technical specifications and industrial ambitions

The wind farm will include four turbines from manufacturer Nordex, each with a nominal output of 5.7 megawatts. Energiekontor AG states that the N149 turbines will have a hub height of 164 metres and a rotor diameter of 149 metres. Expected annual output is 66 gigawatt hours from the first full year of operation, which corresponds to the average annual consumption of more than 20,000 households, according to the company’s estimates.

The construction permit was obtained in August 2024. Energiekontor AG also won the tender from the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) in February 2025, as part of the Renewable Energy Act (Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz, EEG) support scheme. With the financial close achieved, the project is now ready to move to the construction phase following the approval of the bank loan.

Rollout and integration into the group’s portfolio

Work is scheduled to begin at the start of 2026, once support mast replacement operations have been completed to enable connection to the high-voltage grid via a transformer substation. Commissioning of the Nartum wind farm is expected in 2027, after construction and installation of the required infrastructure.

Energiekontor AG plans to add this project to its owned portfolio as part of its strategy to increase held capacity within the group. The company stated that with this new farm, its portfolio is expected to reach around 650 megawatts in the coming years. Eight projects, representing more than 200 megawatts of wind and solar capacity in Germany and France, are currently under construction or in preparation for direct operation by the company.

Confirmation of financing for the Nartum wind farm comes amid continued development of the German wind power market, driven by public support and dynamic private operator investment.
