The German company Encavis AG, specialised in the operation of wind and solar farms, has announced the acquisition of two new wind farms in Germany, thereby increasing its renewable energy production capacity. These two installations, located in Zeven in Lower Saxony and Raßlitz in Saxony, have a combined total capacity of around 59 megawatts (MW).

Increased production capacity

The Zeven wind farm, located near the cities of Hamburg and Bremen, is already operational and comprises eight Vestas V-162 turbines, each with an individual capacity of 6 MW. The site’s average annual output is estimated at around 139 gigawatt hours (GWh), electricity which is fed into the German grid.

The Raßlitz wind farm, located about 35 kilometres west of Dresden, is equipped with two Enercon E-160 turbines, each with a capacity of 5.56 MW. Currently in its final stage of preparation, the site will annually generate approximately 36 GWh once it is soon connected to the national electricity grid.

Secured contractual framework

The purchase of electricity generated by these two wind farms is guaranteed by regulated feed-in tariffs according to Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act, Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz (EEG), for a period of 20 years. This framework provides Encavis AG with long-term visibility regarding revenue from these new assets.

The transaction is part of an ongoing cooperation between Encavis AG and Energiequelle GmbH, an active developer in renewable energy projects. Just a few weeks ago, Encavis had already acquired another wind farm located in Bad Gandersheim, also in Lower Saxony, with a capacity of 5.6 MW, from Energiequelle.

External growth strategy

Encavis AG, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, continues its expansion strategy by targeting selective acquisitions in the domestic German market. The company now owns and manages an extensive portfolio of solar and wind assets in Europe, focusing strongly on infrastructures guaranteeing stable financial flows through regulatory and contractual agreements.

Energiequelle GmbH, a recognised developer in the renewable energy sector, continues for its part to strengthen its collaboration with Encavis, providing mature assets ready for integration into operations.

This strategic move takes place within a context of strong consolidation in Europe’s renewable energy sector, marked by increased investment dynamics in green infrastructure from both private and public actors.
