Suzlon Group has secured a third consecutive contract from AMPIN Energy Transition Limited for a 170.1 megawatt (MW) wind project located in the Kurnool region of Andhra Pradesh. This latest order brings the total capacity ordered by AMPIN from Suzlon to 303 MW. The ongoing partnership between the two companies aims at strengthening India’s wind energy sector through a strategy of local production and operation. Under this contract, Suzlon will supply and install 54 units of its S144 turbines equipped with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLT), each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW.

Strategic industrial partnership

Both companies have renewed their collaboration to meet the growing demand for clean energy in the Indian market. This marks the third order obtained by Suzlon from AMPIN, highlighting renewed confidence in Suzlon’s technical and operational capabilities. The project involves complete execution from equipment supply and installation to commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance services. This integrated operational model is a central element of the commercial agreement between the two partners.

Suzlon will deploy its advanced S144 turbines, known for their increased energy efficiency and adaptability to specific local conditions. The selection of hybrid lattice towers aims particularly to optimise energy yield and ensure improved operational stability over the long term. This equipment will be manufactured locally in India, in line with the Indian government’s industrial sovereignty goals within the energy sector. This industrial choice aligns with the “Make in India” policy, an official programme designed to promote local manufacturing production.

Strategic importance for DISCOMs

According to JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suzlon Group, Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) occupy a critical position within the country’s energy chain. These companies play a decisive role in integrating renewable energy production into the national electricity grid for industries and households. The project in Andhra Pradesh thus contributes to strengthening the availability of reliable and clean energy, essential for regional industrial and economic development.

Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of AMPIN Energy Transition Limited, emphasised that this cooperation with Suzlon directly aligns with AMPIN’s strategic ambition to achieve an installed renewable energy capacity of 25 gigawatts (GW) by 2030. The company primarily aims at the rapidly growing commercial and industrial sectors in India, which demonstrate significant demand for clean energy.

This project thus marks a decisive step in the sustainable development of India’s energy sector, focusing on industrial growth and long-term diversification of energy sources.
