Chinese battery manufacturer REPT BATTERO and South Korean group Hyosung Heavy Industries have signed a memorandum of understanding for the delivery of 2.5GWh of energy storage products, the two companies announced on May 30. The agreement, concluded in Seoul, aims to establish a global strategic framework in the field of battery storage systems.

According to the agreement, REPT BATTERO will supply storage cells, modules and direct current (DC) containers to Hyosung Heavy Industries, along with technical support for system integration and quality control. In return, Hyosung Heavy Industries will handle global marketing, local system adaptation and regulatory certification in the target markets.

A structuring partnership in the storage segment

The two companies stated that this cooperation aims to establish a dominant presence in the global energy storage sector. They intend to accelerate the adoption of large-scale storage technologies in various countries, responding to increasing demand for the integration of intermittent energies into power grids.

Woo Tae-hee, Chief Executive Officer and President of Hyosung Heavy Industries, stated: “Hyosung Heavy Industries is committed to becoming a leading global player in energy solutions. This collaboration will solidify our positions in the energy storage market.”

Joint ambitions in international markets

For his part, Feng Ting, Chief Executive Officer and President of REPT BATTERO, noted that the agreement represents “a significant breakthrough in market synergy between Chinese and South Korean storage players”. According to him, REPT BATTERO’s high-performance batteries complement the industrial expertise and international footprint of Hyosung Heavy Industries.

The stated goal is to eventually offer more competitive storage products and services in foreign markets by combining industrial capacities with local market knowledge. Both companies plan to expand their collaboration to other strategic regions, tailoring their offerings to specific regulatory requirements and existing infrastructure.

A reinforced position to meet global demand

REPT BATTERO and Hyosung Heavy Industries reiterated their intention to strengthen cooperation in the coming years.
