Eversource, a key energy management player in New England, has finalized the acquisition of a 26-acre parcel on the Mystic property from Constellation Energy. This strategic site is set to become a hub for renewable energy interconnection, offering solutions to the growing challenges of energy transition and grid reliability in the region.

Massachusetts, already a leader in the energy transition, seeks to capitalize on this acquisition by developing infrastructure adapted to various energy sources. The primary goal is to integrate technologies such as onshore and offshore wind energy, hydropower, battery storage, and other low-carbon resources into the existing grid. This initiative aligns with the state’s decarbonization and electrification goals while ensuring continuity of energy service for consumers and major industrial users.

A Strategic Challenge for the Grid

The project also addresses the growing demand for grid optimization in the face of anticipated congestion. The existing infrastructure on the Mystic site offers a unique potential to reduce congestion and improve energy flow management in the region. By working closely with local stakeholders, Massachusetts aims to identify solutions to maximize efficiency and renewable energy integration into the grid.
