CCE Holding, an international specialist in renewable energies, has reached a significant milestone with the official inauguration of its Horia 1 solar power plant. This facility, the largest developed by the company in Europe, has a nominal capacity of 40 MWp. The event was held in the presence of representatives from the Romanian Ministry of Energy in the Arad region, northwestern Romania.

The Horia 1 solar power plant, established on a 40-hectare site, features 75,249 photovoltaic modules capable of generating electricity for approximately 17,000 households. The project was entrusted to SolarPro, a company renowned for its expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). Construction was completed in less than a year, adhering to the established timeline.

A project financed by European initiatives

The facility is part of the European Union’s National Resilience and Renewal Program (PNRR). This initiative aims to promote renewable energy within EU member states, with nearly three million euros allocated to the project. For CCE Holding, Romania has become a strategic market due to favorable national policies and significant solar potential.

Since its establishment in Romania two years ago, CCE Romania, the group’s local subsidiary, has developed a strong expertise in managing photovoltaic projects. This achievement marks the first step in a broader strategy to enhance the country’s energy transition.

New ambitions for 2025

In addition to the Horia 1 plant, CCE Holding plans to develop new photovoltaic infrastructure in Romania. The company announces that it will produce nearly 500,000 megawatt-hours of green electricity annually in the coming years, equivalent to the annual consumption of the city of Arad.

To achieve this goal, construction permits and grid connection commitments have already been secured for several additional projects. Construction is set to begin in 2025, highlighting the company’s commitment to strengthening Romania’s sustainability objectives.

Alexandru Matei Fatu, General Manager of CCE Romania, stated: “In just two years, we have built a remarkable portfolio of photovoltaic projects. Our objective is to amplify our production capacity in the coming years and become a key player in Romania’s energy transition.”
