AES Indiana, a subsidiary of the AES Group, announces plans to build a solar power plant and storage facility.
With a capacity of 50 MW of solar energy and 180 MWh, the plant will operate 200 km from the state capital Indianapolis.
AES Indiana launches solar and storage project near Indianapolis
The plant will work in conjunction with the Petersburg Generating Station to supply nearly 45,000 homes during peak hours.
This project follows the line of partnership with Pike County, Indiana, which has supported the capital’s energy supply for 50 years.
While up to now AES Indiana has mainly offered its services to Marion County, this project would enable it to extend its actions.
The Petersburg Plan, an extension of the Group’s actions
Over the last six years, AES Indiana has reduced its emissions by 67%, including 33% in carbon dioxide.
The Petersburg Solar Project represents a further step in the subsidiary’s transition to more environmentally-friendly solutions.
The plan will be beneficial in the long term, and is in line with the future needs of the region, which has been relying onsolar energy for several years.
