8minute Solar Energy announces the closing of a $400 million financing from EIG, a leading institutional investor in the global energy and infrastructure sectors.
This strategic fundraising will help 8minute continue to operate and grow its portfolio of clean energy assets, which includes more than 18 GW of solar capacity and 24 GWh of storage across California, Texas and the Southwestern U.S. – enough energy to power 20 million people.
In addition, this investment will enable 8minute to focus on technological innovation and advanced solar plant design, and to start building projects on its own balance sheet.
Since 1982, EIG has been a leading institutional investor in the global energy sector, with over $8.4 billion deployed in sustainable and renewable energies to date.
For its part, 8minute has one of the largest pipelines of solar power plants with integrated energy storage in the US, comprising over 50 utility-scale projects at various stages of development, with a typical project size of 400 MW.
