7C Solarparken obtains the rights for two photovoltaic projects in Germany totaling nearly 100 MWp. Earlier this year, the company signed a letter of intent with a German developer with a 400MWp pipeline. The German firm hopes to reach its target of 525MWp by 2025, compared to the current 366MWp.
Two photovoltaic projects
A first 16MWp photovoltaic project will be located in the region of Görlitz in Saxony on a site undergoing reconversion. 7C Solarparken has the land rights and the connection permit. In addition, ratification of the agreement will take place in the third quarter of 2023.
A second 80MWp ground-mounted solar project will be located in the Greifswald region on an abandoned military site. However, there is still uncertainty about the connection to the 380kV line or the creation of two new substations. In addition, ratification will also take place in the third quarter of 2023.
A favorable context
The German government announces the decision to include these two projects in the auction process. Because of their advanced status, projects can participate in the call for proposals. Steven De Proost, CEO of 7C Solarparken, comments:
“We are excited about the addition of two large projects to our pipeline. First, our company has reached a critical size to build and finance large-scale projects of nearly 100 MWp, even on a 100% equity basis.”
The project is part of the current energy crisis. The need for large-scale projects is becoming inevitable according to 7C Solarparken. In addition, the company is already in discussions with suppliers.
