Nord Stream: The controversial project is suspended indefinitely

The controversial Nord Stream gas pipeline project under the Baltic Sea remains on hold after sources close to the project said the pipelines would not be repaired or reactivated in the foreseeable future due to geopolitical tensions between Russia and the West.

Zaporizhia nuclear power plant turned into Russian military base

Since the Russian occupation of the Zaporijjia nuclear power plant in March 2022, power generation has been interrupted and the plant is now used as a military base. Russian troops are said to be present there in large numbers and the local population is said to have decreased considerably.

France: Fos-sur-Mer to host a photovoltaic products gigafactory

Lyon-based start-up Carbon has announced the construction of the largest solar panel factory in Europe at the port of Marseille-Fos. With an investment budget of 1.5 billion euros, this plant will produce 5 GW of photovoltaic cells and 3.5 GW of photovoltaic modules annually, and will create more than 3,000 direct jobs.
