TotalEnergies and RWE inaugurate the Coupru wind farm

The Coupru wind farm, the result of a partnership between TotalEnergies and RWE, is in line with the contract for recovery and ecological transition in the southern Aisne. With a capacity of 12 MW and a production of 31 GWh of green electricity each year, it will supply the equivalent of 20,500 people and avoid the annual emission of 1,850 tons of CO2.

The Coupru wind farm, the result of a collaboration between TotalEnergies and RWE, is part of the contract for recovery and ecological transition in the southern Aisne region.

A wind farm that will produce the consumption of 20,500 people

Composed of 5 wind turbines for a power of 12 MW, this wind farm represents an investment of 20 million euros. It will produce 31 GWh of green electricity each year, which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption, excluding heating, of 20,500 people.

This electricity production will avoid the annual emission of 1,850 tons of CO2. The production will be directly injected into the national distribution network while contributing to the power supply of the whole community of municipalities of Charly-sur-Marne. The wind turbines have been in operation since September 2022.

A project that meets France’s commitments

While the Coupru project represents a fine achievement for the Aube region, it will also contribute to France’s commitments in terms of renewable energy production. Wind energy is today a safe, competitive and renewable energy that provides France with a non relocatable production by securing its energy supply. With a total of 21 GW installed, of which 2 GW will be installed by 2022, the development of wind power must accelerate to meet the French energy roadmap.
