As part of this alliance, Stem will become SB Energy’s preferred partner for the 10GWh Energy Management System (EMS) of its energy storage pipeline across North America over the next five years, including CAISO and ERCOT. This collaboration will enable energy buyers to decarbonize their operations around the clock with innovative technologies, delivering renewable energy on a massive scale.

Stem and SB Energy: A Strategic Partnership

John Carrington, CEO of Stem, said: “By developing and operating high-value, large-scale renewable energy projects, SB Energy has made a significant contribution to the transition to clean energy in North America. Stem is honored to have been selected as SB Energy’s preferred EMS partner in this groundbreaking collaboration. We are thrilled to collaborate with SB Energy as we push the boundaries of the clean energy market with forward-thinking strategies and services throughout the project lifecycle, giving Stem critical insights to continuously evolve AI-powered software solutions ahead of market needs.”

The Vision of the Alliance for a Sustainable Energy Future

Rich Hossfeld, co-CEO of SB Energy, said, “Integrating AI-powered storage and software across our platform is critical to our mission of delivering flexible renewable energy at scale. Our alliance with Stem, AI-powered clean energy solutions and services, supports the growth of SB Energy’s digital platform and our ability to deliver innovative solutions throughout the project lifecycle. We are particularly pleased that this alliance will further accelerate the deployment of lithium-ion and long-life storage technology in our portfolio, as well as our ability to deliver state-of-the-art, cost-effective power generation structures to our customers.”

SB Energy develops, owns and operates some of the most technically advanced large-scale renewable energy projects in the United States. SB Energy currently owns and operates 2 GW of clean energy, with a planned increase to 3 GW by mid-2024. In just four years, SB Energy has built one of the largest development and operating platforms in the United States, demonstrating its ability to develop, secure the supply chain, finance, invest in cutting-edge technologies and operate at scale.

This technological alliance between Stem and SB Energy promises to accelerate the transition to large-scale clean energy in the United States. By combining Stem’s AI-powered software expertise with SB Energy’s infrastructure, the two companies are well placed to deliver innovative, sustainable energy solutions to their customers. This collaboration marks an important step in the search for cleaner, more flexible energy sources to meet the growing need for clean energy.
