Sungrow FPV supports Indonesia in its energy transition

Sungrow FPV has announced the supply of floating systems for Indonesia's largest floating solar project to date. This initiative demonstrates the company's efforts to support Indonesia's ambition to reach 23% of its energy mix from renewable sources by 2025.

Sungrow FPV, a global leader in floating solar projects, has announced the supply of floating systems for the Cirata 192MW floating solar project in Indonesia, which is the largest floating solar project in Indonesia to date. This initiative demonstrates the company’s robust efforts to support Indonesia’s ambition to achieve 23% of its energy mix from renewable sources by 2025. Delivery of the floating system began in the first quarter of this year.

An innovative project

The Cirata project is currently the largest floating solar project with the greatest water depth, water level variation and underwater elevation difference (94 meters of water depth, 18 meters of water level variation and 50 meters of underwater elevation difference). The biggest challenge of this project is the stress concentration caused by thousands of anchors located at different elevations and complex topography.

The Vice President of Sungrow FPV, Dr. Sungrow. Wu Weiwu pointed out that the technical team completed the design of this project through a coupled simulation method of the floating solar system and hydrodynamic tank tests at scale. With high quality products, Sungrow FPV’s floating solar system solution will continue to be excellent in the Indonesian market and contribute to the power infrastructure acceleration program in Indonesia.

Further unlocking the potential in Indonesia

Indonesia is the largest energy consumer in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region and aims to achieve 23% of its energy mix from renewable sources by 2025, increasing to 31% by 2030.

The Cirata project is an important part of Indonesia’s renewable energy plan. Sungrow FPV CEO Daniel Li welcomed the partnership and the opportunity to contribute to the decarbonization of the Indonesian economy.
