An innovative solution

Sealhyfe will have a capacity of 1MW and will have a connection to a floating wind turbine. Lhyfe already operates a renewable hydrogen production facility using water electrolysis. The company plans to set up similar land-based facilities throughout Europe.

With Sealhyfe, Lhyfe is exploring the idea of developing and operating offshore renewable hydrogen production platforms. They can be positioned on existing fixed structures or on fixed or floating foundations. By 2030-2035, the offshore sector could represent an additional installed capacity of around 3GW for Lhyfe.

A first prototype

Nantes Saint-Nazaire is the first major port facility for hydrogen on the French Atlantic coast. The collaboration between Nantes Saint-Nazaire port and Lhyfe will allow an innovative partnership in parallel with the identification of industrial needs.

This collaboration will identify solutions for bringing renewable hydrogen produced at sea to land. Matthieu Guesné, CEO and founder of Lhyfe, says:

Following the integration and inauguration of our Sealhyfe platform at the Saint Nazaire port facility, we will continue to work with this port facility, which has a wealth of related expertise, to accelerate the development of solutions that will enable the decarbonization of mobility and industry on a large scale, in all coastal regions.”
