A 500MW project

In Ras Ghareb, this project is the result of a consortium between ENGIE and the Japanese company Toyota Tsusho/Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation. The green light from the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt. The Orascom Construction Group has a stake in the project. It will carry out the construction of the wind farm.

Once operational, the park will be able to provide clean energy to more than 800,000 homes in Egypt. In addition, the project in Ras Ghareb will reduce CO2 emissions by about 1 million tons per year. Thus, the park will participate in accelerating Egypt’s transition to renewable energy production.

A major player

This new 500MW wind farm project in Ras Ghareb builds on the consortium’s past success. The partners benefit from the experience of Egypt’s first independent renewable energy producer (IPP) project. In fact, the work was completed earlier than planned.

Ras Ghareb strengthens Orascom Construction’s position in power and renewable energy in the Middle East and Africa. The company’s total balance sheet includes completed projects and projects under construction with a capacity of 30GW. Finally, the company has a portfolio of building materials and facilities management.
