Plug Power will provide fuel cells and hydrogen storage and refueling infrastructure to FreezPak.

A showcase client

Plug Power announces an agreement with FreezPak for the supply of fuel cells. The company will also provide hydrogen storage and refueling infrastructure. The partnership involves 9 sites and nearly 400 forklifts.

The multi-site agreement makes FreezPak, a Plug Power customer and since 2014, a pedestal customer. The food logistics company joins Amazon, Walmart and Home Depot. The company will take over 11 customer sites in the United States, three of which are already operational.

The use of hydrogen from Plug Power is also a solution for the reduction of greenhouse gases. In addition, FreezPak sees its electricity bills drop by 31.5% with the use of hydrogen. In addition, the group is seeing an increase in usable space to 464.5 square meters per site.

A solution for the future

Plug Power is the world’s leading provider of ready-to-use hydrogen solutions. Lhe company deploys more than 50,000 fuel cell systems and more than 165 fueling stations. It is the largest purchaser of liquid hydrogen in the world.

For FreezPak, a customer for nearly eight years, hydrogen means productivity over lead-acid batteries. FreezPack says it will increase its production by 100%. This is because fuel cells operate at full power continuously, while batteries require frequent recharging.

Plug Power’s solutions carried about 30% of the groceries in the United States during the Covid crisis. Michaël Saoud, co-founder and CEO of FreezPak Logistics, states:

“We are committed to clean energy and solutions that power our operations. As we improve productivity and continue our path to innovation, we are excited to expand our partnership with Plug.”

Plug Power is building a renewable hydrogen ecosystem, from production, storage and delivery to power generation.
