OX2 Élargit son Horizon Européen

In a significant step forward for Europe’s energy transition, OX2 has signed a major agreement for the sale of solar projects in Spain. This transaction marks OX2’s first foray into the Spanish market, and a significant milestone in its European expansion.

The company has sold solar projects with a total capacity of 82 megawatts (MW) to Afcon Renewable Energy, an independent power producer based in Israel. The sale is part of OX2’s strategy to expand its geographical footprint and meet the growing demand for renewable electricity in Europe.

Solar Projects in Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha

OX2 acquired the solar projects concerned, located in the Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha regions, in 2022. However, once operational, they should produce around 163 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy annually, making a significant contribution to Spain’s clean energy supply.

Contributing to Europe’s Energy Transition

Paul Stormoen, CEO of OX2, expressed his satisfaction with this first sale in Spain, pointing out that the company has already sold projects in six European markets. In addition, this geographic expansion testifies to OX2’s ability to adapt and meet the varied energy needs across the continent.

In financial terms, the sale will have a limited impact on OX2’s results, but will contribute positively to its cash flow in the fourth quarter of 2023. This move reinforces OX2’s position as a key player in the renewable energy sector, while supporting the region’s sustainable development objectives.

Financial Impact of the Sale on OX2

The financial dimension of this transaction is crucial to understanding its strategic importance for OX2. Although the direct impact on the company’s financial results will be moderate, the importance of this sale lies in its contribution to the company’s cash flow and its role as a catalyst for future expansion.
The outlook for OX2 and the renewable energy market in Spain is promising. With growing demand for sustainable energy solutions, these solar projects will play a crucial role in the country’s energy transition, while contributing to Europe’s wider efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.

The agreement between OX2 and Afcon Renewable Energy symbolizes an important step in OX2’s European expansion and reinforces Spain’s role in the transition to renewable energies, offering new prospects for sustainable development in Europe.
