American group Ormat Technologies has secured exploration and development rights for the Telaga Ranu geothermal site in the Maluku archipelago. This award strengthens the renewable energy producer’s presence in the Indonesian market.

Ormat Technologies announced the award of the Telaga Ranu Geothermal Working Area by the Indonesian government, under the authority of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The concession was granted following a competitive tender process involving four qualified bidders. This award secures Ormat’s long-term rights to explore and develop the site’s geothermal resource.
