Nakasato, a 47MW onshore wind project in northern Japan is entering commercial operation according to Vena Energy.
A wind power project
Nakasato covers 24 hectares in Nakadomari, Aomori Prefecture. The wind project consists of 12 wind turbines. It can provide clean energy to up to 22,000 homes each year.
Nakasato will also reduce approximately 61,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, it will save up to 87 million liters of water per year. Toyomitsu Hamadate, Mayor of Nakadomari City, says:
“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on the successful launch of the commercial operation of the Nakasato Wind Project. The need to combat global warming has increased recently, and increasing efforts have been made around the world to reduce its impact. In this context, Nakadomari City also wishes to contribute to the protection of our environment.”
Local spin-offs
Vena Energy currently has 32 solar and wind energy projects in operation. The whole represents a total of 715MW. The company says it looks forward to continuing its commitment to Japan’s decarbonization.
The Nakasato project will allow the development of many local initiatives and the promotion of eco-tourism. Thus, the project allows for the restoration of the old Miyakoshi house which still houses the stained glass windows from the Taisho period. Finally, the project will emphasize the preservation of the environment and biodiversity.
