Moray West, the offshore wind farm in the UK, will benefit from the agreement between ENGIE and Google for the purchase of electricity.
A PPA for 2025.
Moray West will have its electricity purchased over a 12-year period for a capacity of 100MW. ENGIE will supply Google with more than 5TWh of renewable energy from the site. The wind farm will provide 900MW and its production will start in 2025.
Matt BRITTIN, President of Google EMEA, states:
“People in the UK and Europe are increasingly concerned about climate change and energy security. We share this concern and believe that technology is an important part of the solution – both in reducing our own emissions and in helping others to reduce theirs. This new investment in UK renewables brings us one step closer to our goal of running entirely on carbon-free energy by 2030, and means that in the UK we will be running on 90% or nearly 90% carbon-free energy by 2025.”
Ocean Winds is proud to collaborate with ENGIE and Google. The company is currently developing, building or operating over 6GW of offshore wind projects in the UK.
Decarbonized energy
Moray West is part of the portfolio developed by Ocean Winds. It is a joint venture owned 50% each by EDP Renewables and ENGIE. The project is located in the Moray Firth, Scotland.
The Moray West site will provide 882MW of renewable energy. Google and ENGIE are not at their first green APP. This new contract supports both Google’s decarbonized energy ambition and ENGIE’s clean energy strategy.
