The Liniez wind farm extension marks a significant step forward in the field of green energy. On Saturday, September 16, 2023, the Paris region prepares for this extension. EDPR, a leading developer of solar and wind farms, will be inaugurating its wind farm in Liniez, in the Centre Val-de-Loire region of France. This initiative marks a new stage inEDPR ‘s commitmentin France to contribute to the energy transition of the country, the region and the département.

A Major Ecological Impact

Located in Liniez, the wind farm extension will have an installed capacity of 11 MW, thanks to the addition of 5 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.2 MW. Perched at a height of 85 metres, these wind turbines will reach a blade tip of 140 metres. This production capacity will supply the equivalent of more than half the population of a city like Châteauroux.

But it’s not just a question of numbers. The Liniez wind farm extension is a significant step towards a cleaner energy future. Each year, this production will prevent the emission of over 1,800 tonnes of CO2, thus contributing to our company’s commitment to decarbonization.

A Festive Opening

The inauguration of the wind farm is a festive event for the general public. Visitors will have an exceptional opportunity to tour the site, see inside a wind turbine, and interact with EDPR teams to understand how the park works. In addition, throughout the day, activities such as children’s games and concerts will be offered in a unique venue.

A Global Commitment

This inauguration symbolizes EDP Renewables’ commitment to the French market and to the global energy transition. As part of its new business plan, EDP Renewables plans to invest 20 billion euros by 2026 to increase renewable energy installations, 40% of which will be allocated to onshore wind power facilities in Europe. Solar energy will also play a key role, with 40% dedicated to large-scale photovoltaics and 10% to decentralized solar production.

France is a key market for EDP Renewables, and this global investment plan calls for the installation of over 300 new megawatts of renewable electricity by 2025.

La Transition Énergétique en Marche

In short, the inauguration of the Liniez wind farm extension is not just a local event, it’s another step towards a cleaner energy future, concrete proof that companies like EDPR are actively contributing to the transition to low-carbon energy. This green expansion is an inspiring example of how the energy industry can play a crucial role in preserving our planet and building a more sustainable future.
