ITM has signed a capacity reservation with a major utility company for the supply of four NEPTUNE II units. These 2 MW electrolysers will be manufactured in 2025-2026 for a project in the UK. The project has already secured Hydrogen Allocation Round 1 (HAR1) funding, and the final investment decision is expected in 2025. Similar projects are multiplying in the UK, such as the hydrogen plant built by Johnson Matthey.

Features of NEPTUNE II electrolyzers

NEPTUNE II electrolyzers, with a capacity of 2 MW, are “plug & play” containerized systems integrating the TRIDENT platform. They are designed for fast installation and reliable operation, meeting the specific needs of large industrial projects. These electrolyzers offer superior energy efficiency and feature an advanced control system for real-time monitoring and optimized performance management. What’s more, their modular design makes them easy to integrate into existing infrastructures, reducing costs and commissioning times. The robustness and durability of NEPTUNE II electrolyzers make them ideal for demanding industrial environments, guaranteeing continuous, stable production of high-purity hydrogen.

ITM CEO statement

Dennis Schulz, CEO of ITM, commented: “This capacity reservation is the result of an intense qualification process by a major industrial player, keen to acquire a safe, reliable and competitive solution. The data collected from operating installations was a key differentiating factor.”
This capacity reservation agreement between ITM and a major utility highlights the confidence that manufacturers have in ITM’s solutions for large-scale energy projects. The integration of NEPTUNE II electrolysers in this UK project reinforces ITM’s position as a key supplier in the sector.
