Iraqi Kurdistan: Suspension of oil exports

Iraqi Kurdistan has announced the temporary suspension of its oil exports via Turkey due to the earthquake that hit the region. Exports, amounting to approximately 450,000 barrels per day, are being halted to ensure the safety of the operation and to avoid any unwanted incidents.

Due to the security threat following the deadly earthquake in Turkey and Syria, Iraqi Kurdistan has announced the suspension of its oil exports via the pipeline linking the region to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. This decision was taken to ensure the safety of exports and to avoid any unwanted incidents.

 

Export stop confirmed

The Kurdistan Regional Government has confirmed the halt of oil exports via Ceyhan due to the earthquake in Turkey. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and neighboring Syria on Monday, killing more than 1,000 people and causing severe damage in both countries. A second earthquake of magnitude 7.5 followed a few hours later. Exports will resume after a thorough inspection of the pipelines.

 

Illegal exports according to the Iraqi government

Autonomous Kurdistan exports about 450,000 barrels of oil per day via Turkey. This pipeline is considered illegal by the Iraqi federal government. He demands that all exports from the country be managed by the authorities in Baghdad.
