Greentown Labs, the largest climatetech incubator in North America, and Shell, a global energy leader, are now accepting applications for Greentown Go Make 2023. Designed to accelerate partnerships between start-ups and large companies to advance climatetech, this Greentown Go program focuses on technologies related to carbon use, storage and traceability.
Specifically, Go Make 2023 focuses on high-carbon alternative feedstocks for carbon-based products, biogenic and nature-based solutions, and carbon storage and traceability solutions. Specific details on the technology areas of interest can be found in the application. Start-ups selected for the program will have access to mentoring, networking opportunities and educational workshops throughout this highly structured six-month program.
Many advantages
Program benefits for participating start-ups include: a platform to interact with Shell executives to explore potential partnerships to accelerate innovative and groundbreaking carbon solutions. Outcomes may include, but are not limited to, coaching on technology validation and scaling, joint development, licensing agreements, pilots, admission to Shell GameChanger and/or investment opportunities; $15,000 in non-dilutive grant funding; mentoring, networking opportunities, and partnership-focused programming from Greentown’s community of climate startup experts; exclusive access to Greentown and Shell networks; office space and membership in Greentown for the duration of the program.
As part of its technology portfolio, Shell is investing in carbon neutralization and carbon capture technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Go Make 2023 will help support Shell’s strategy by facilitating the development and scale-up of technologies related to carbon use, storage and traceability in areas such as chemistry, low-carbon fuels, nature-based solutions, sectoral decarbonization (including agriculture, construction, mining, etc.), bio-CCU, and technologies that support carbon mitigation on a larger scale.
Five areas of concern
Greentown runs Greentown Go programs in five areas: Go Make (manufacturing), Go Move (transportation), Go Energize (energy and electricity), Go Build (buildings), and Go Grow (food and agriculture). These startup-big business partnership programs challenge the status quo in each key greenhouse gas emissions sector by accelerating partnerships between industry giants and innovators.
