A 15-year plan

Fervo Energy and Clean Power Alliance (CPA) announce the signing of a 33MW power purchase agreement. The 15-year contract will power 32 CPA member communities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. As a result, the company will deliver carbon-free geothermal energy to more than three million residential and commercial customers.

CPA selects Fervo Energy to expand its deployment of carbon-free energy. The goal is to meet a 2021 California state mandate. The state requires 1000MW to be non-weather dependent and emission free.

The project will deliver 33MW of carbon-free geothermal energy from Beaver County, Utah to the California regional grid. The project will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2028. Thus, the project will power 13,559 Southern California homes each year.

Reliable projects

Natasha Keefer is the Vice President of Energy Procurement for Clean Power Alliance. It is interested in this agreement and in geothermal energy:

“ACP is proud to contract with this new building geothermal resource, which uses state-of-the-art technology to complement our existing renewable energy portfolio. Unlike solar and wind power, which are intermittent, geothermal energy provides reliable 24-hour renewable energy to our millions of customers in Southern California.”

Fervo Energy brings a variety of innovative techniques to the field of geothermal energy.

This allows us to deliver more reliable and cost-effective projects. In addition, this approach increases the potential of this energy as a widespread energy source. CPA operates in approximately 30 cities in Los Angeles County and Ventura County.

Clean Power Alliance is a nonprofit electricity provider that has been around since 2017. It is the fifth largest electricity provider by volume in California. Fervo Energy and CPA hope to avoid 21,005 tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year. The group has the largest number of customers who receive 100% renewable energy in the country.
