New fully electric car registrations reached 1.88 million units in the European Union in 2025, compared to 1.45 million the previous year, according to data published by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA). This 29.9% increase brings the market share of battery electric vehicles to 17.4%, up from 13.6% in 2024. The trade organization attributes this momentum to more affordable models and purchase incentives.
