Eesti Energia and Aquila Clean Energy EMEA join forces for green energy

Aquila Clean Energy EMEA and Estonian energy company Eesti Energia have signed a long-term power purchase agreement for 1.8 TWh to be produced by a Lithuanian wind farm. This historic partnership promotes the development of clean energy solutions around the Baltic Sea with fixed tariffs offering security of supply to consumers.

Aquila Clean Energy EMEA, Aquila Capital’s clean energy development platform in Europe, and the Estonian energy company Eesti Energia have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 1.8 TWh.

 

Contract Overview

This agreement provides Eesti Energia with a stable solution for the long-term supply of clean energy sources. The electricity will be produced by a wind farm built by Aquila Clean Energy in Lithuania. APPs provide project developers with revenue security and energy companies with security of supply.

Joakim Johnsen, Head of Markets and Operations at Aquila Clean Energy commented: “We are delighted to finalize our first PPA in Lithuania. The country has great potential for the installation of wind power plants due to the favorable topographical conditions. We are very pleased that in Eesti Energia we have found an experienced and reliable contracting partner that will purchase the power on a long-term basis.”

Eesti Energia provides customizable energy supply solutions to consumers in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Finland. Through its subsidiary, ‘Enefit Green’, it is one of the leading developers in the field of sustainable green energy production.
