EDP, the main shareholder of EDP Renewables, has recently consolidated its status as a leader in the field of sustainability. The company distinguished itself by topping a list of 256 companies, according to S&P CSA’s evaluation. With an impressive score of 88 points, EDP has confirmed its role as the world’s most sustainable electricity producer for the third time in a decade. This outstanding positioning underlines not only EDP’s competence but also its unwavering commitment to sustainable practices.

Excellence in Sustainability

This global recognition reflects EDP’s efforts in four crucial areas: climate strategy, innovation management, market opportunities and ethics. With 100 points in each of these areas, EDP demonstrated a level of excellence rarely achieved in the industry. These results have earned EDP a place in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI), reinforcing its international reputation.

Climate Strategy and Innovation

EDP and EDPR CFO Rui Texeira stressed the importance of this recognition, saying it reflects the company’s ambitious decarbonization strategy and its commitment to the key values of innovation and ethics. EDP also highlighted its roadmap to net zero emissions, in line with the recommendations of the European Commission.

In 2023, EDP increased its decarbonization ambitions, complying with SBTi Net-Zero standards and aiming for zero net emissions by 2040.
