Chile: KBR selected for an innovative green ammonia project

KBR's green ammonia technology, K-GreeN®, has been chosen by Enaex, S.A. for its innovative HyEx green ammonia project in Chile. The project aims to demonstrate the operational stability of green ammonia production using renewable energy from photovoltaic plants.

KBR announced today that its green ammonia technology, K-GreeN®, has been selected by Enaex, S.A. for its innovative HyEx green ammonia project in Chile. The HyEx project will demonstrate the operational stability of green ammonia production using renewable energy from photovoltaic plants.

 

Green ammonia production on an industrial scale using renewable energy

“We are excited to participate in this project that will demonstrate Chile’s potential to harness renewable energy for green ammonia production,” said Doug Kelly, KBR’s president, Technology. “The innovative concepts that will be incorporated into this project will enable the realization of industrial-scale green ammonia production using renewable energy from photovoltaic and wind power.”

Toyo Engineering Corporation will be in charge of FEED based on KBR’s world leading proprietary technology and basic engineering design.

Ammonia is relatively easy to transport around the world and can be stored in liquid form, making it a leading candidate to enable a clean hydrogen energy future and decarbonize traditional power generation and shipping.
