CEOG is the world’s largest power plant project combining photovoltaic energy and massive storage of 128MWh. McPhy Energy signs an 8-year maintenance contract with Siemens Energy for this project.
A Guyanese project
CEOG is the result of a collaboration between Meridiam, Société Anonyme de la Raffinerie des Antilles (SARA) and Hydrogène de France (HDF). The company will act as the builder and operator of the West Guiana Power Plant project. McPhy will act as a specialist in hydrogen production and distribution equipment.
CEOG wants to contribute to the worldwide deployment of low-carbon hydrogen as a solution for the energy transition. Starting in 2024, McPhy’s teams will manage the maintenance of the equipment used to produce hydrogen. The company will guarantee the availability and energy efficiency of the electrolyser.
Clean and permanent energy
CEOG combines a high power electrolyser, Augmented McLyzer 16MW, supplied by McPhy and a solar photovoltaic park. A storage unit and high-powered fuel cells will produce hydrogen. The project also includes the storage of hydrogen under pressure in tanks.
This hydrogen, recombined with oxygen from the air in fuel cells, will produce electricity. It will be non-polluting and permanent. CEOG will thus ensure the supply of electricity to 10,000 households in French Guiana at a cost that is competitive with the thermal power plants in the territory.
