The Board of Directors of Aarekraftwerk Klingnau AG (AKA) approves the annual report and financial statements for the 2020/21 financial year, which will be presented to the Annual General Meeting on March 11, 2022.
The Klingau hydroelectric power station (Aarekraftwerk Klingnau), owned by Axpo (60%) and AEW Energie AG (40%), experienced no significant accidents or disruptions.
On the other hand, production was slightly down on the previous year, at 202 million kWh, due to various checks and maintenance work.
In the year under review, AKA’s annual costs borne by the partners amounted to 10.1 million Swiss francs (2020: 9.7 million francs).
Consequently, production costs amounted to CHF0.0543/kilowatt-hour (2020: CHF0.0543/kilowatt-hour).
Compared with long-term figures, the flow rate of the River Aare was remarkably high during the year under review.
It was more than 22% above the ten-year average.
For 91 days, flow exceeded that of the turbines at the Klingnau hydroelectric power station (2020: 12 days).
The July 2021 floods had a peak discharge of 2.2 million liters per second.
During the flood period alone, almost 2,000 tonnes of floating debris accumulated – the 10-year average being around 580 tonnes.
