Arkolia énergies and EDF Renouvelables inaugurate the Vent de la Javigne wind farm with an installed capacity of 15MW.

A local project

Arkolia Energies and EDF Renewables are working together on the Vent de la Javigne project in the Vienne region. The park consists of five wind turbines. Since March 2021, it has been producing the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 15,000 inhabitants each year.

The partnership between Arkolia Energies and EDF Renewables began in 2017 in a wind power project based in New Aquitaine. This first project was driven by IDEX Services. The construction site began in August 2020 with earthworks and the installation of the wind turbines.

An eco-responsible construction

Arkolia Energies and EDF Renewables are paying particular attention to the protection of biodiversity in this new project. Thus, 1.5 hectares of land is sown with melliferous plants, attractive to bees. Measures will be taken during harvest and mowing to allow birds to come to the plot to feed.

Vent de la Javigne participates with these 33GWh of annual production in the policy of transition and energy security. Laura Habegre, branch manager for the Grand Ouest zone for EDF Renewables, says:

“The inauguration of this wind farm today demonstrates EDF Renewables’ commitment (…) to developing, building and operating renewable energy projects. Today, EDF Renewables operates 7 wind farms and 22 solar power plants in New Aquitaine.”

Wind energy is integrated into the energy mix in addition to photovoltaic and hydroelectric power.
