Ameresco has just achieved its commercial objectives for its plant converting landfill gas into renewable gas.
The site is Republic Service’s McCarthy Road landfill in Houston, Texas.
Ameresco delivers project on schedule
The project has been on track since 2020, but construction teams have had to redouble their efforts.
The global pandemic and an active hurricane season have not prevented the company from achieving its 2021 business objectives with its natural gas processing plant.
This structure has a gross nominal capacity of over 1.1 million kW per year and is capable of processing 4,500 m3 of raw gas.
Goal: reduce Texas’ carbon footprint
Three companies are involved in this project.
The first, Ameresco, is a leading technology integrator and developer.
The second, Republic Services, is a leader in the environmental services industry.
The final partner is US Gains, an innovative leader in renewable natural gas.
This project to transform landfill gas into renewable gas aims to create clean energy resources for the regional economy.
It also contributes to Republic Services’ sustainability objective, which is to recycle 50% of landfill gas by 2030.
The aim of this partnership is to leverage Ameresco’s advanced technologies with Republic Services’ needs in terms of environmental services.
The effects of this partnership will be felt over the long term.
It is expected to generate a reduction of over 61,000 tonnes of CO2.
This is equivalent to 103,000 cars taken off the road or 58 million gallons of gasoline not burned.
