The Aker Solution project

The company welcomes this development and affirms its willingness to collaborate with Siemens Energy. Kenneth Simonsen, senior vice president of offshore wind at Aker Solutions says:

“The development of the Norfolk offshore wind area could require up to three successive HVDC platforms […] Together with Siemens Energy, we are proud to support a project that meets the dual objectives of developing local content while providing low-cost green electricity to homes and businesses across the UK.”

Helene Biström, head of Vattenfall’s wind power business, emphasizes:

“Local communities and businesses will be able to take advantage of opportunities in the supply chain to help implement one of the world’s largest offshore wind areas.”

The park is located over 47 kilometers from the Norfolk coast and will have a capacity of 1.4GW. The area will provide a very large share of the energy in the mid to late 2020s. The zone will produce renewable electricity to power 4 million homes and save 6 million tons of CO².
