Air Products, world leader in LNG, has signed an agreement with SCD of Saipem, Chiyoda and Daewoo, for the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) train project.
The LNG heat exchangers will be manufactured at Air Products’ world-leading plant in Port Manatee, Florida, and will join six other exchangers produced by Air Products and operated in Nigeria.

Air Products prepares Nigeria LNG’s 7th LNG train

The project comprises a complete LNG train and a combined liquefaction unit.
Air Products will supply the main cryogenic heat exchangers (MCHE) and process technology for both liquefaction units.
The company will supply this technology and its proprietary processes to the joint venture for the production of eight million tonnes per year of LNG in Nigeria, as part of a major expansion of LNG production at NLNG’s existing Bonny Island site.

Air Products has already supplied the first 6 trains

The company has already supplied the MCHE and processing technology for the first six NLNG trains at Bonny Island.
Initial LNG production from the units began in 1999 for the first and in 2007 for the sixth.
All six LNG trains are still in production today.

“We’re very proud that the six heat exchangers we originally built continue to operate, and that the Train 7 extension uses two additional Air Products heat exchangers, scheduled for delivery in 2023. Every customer is important, but returning customers tell us a lot about how we operate as a company and how our technology is perceived by the market,” says Dr. Samir J. Serhan, COO.

Exchangers built in Florida

Air Products will build the LNG heat exchangers at its production site in Port Manatee, Florida.
The company opened its Port Manatee facility in January 2014 and completed a 60% expansion in October 2019 to meet the needs of the ever-growing LNG industry.
In October 2018, the company inaugurated a new LNG Equipment Test Facility (ETF), which will enable Air Products to improve the reliability and performance of its LNG equipment and design new equipment.
Air Products’ proprietary LNG technology, essential to help meet the world’s growing energy needs and desire for clean energy, processes and cryogenically liquefies precious natural gas for consumers and industry.
For over 50 years.
Air Products manufactures LNG heat exchangers, which are currently operating in over 100 LNG trains in 20 countries around the world.
This technology, used in some of the world’s most remote locations, extracts natural gas and releases its value by liquefying it, enabling it to be shipped economically.
The LNG is then regasified for energy uses.
