AES Corporation is now working with X, the moonshot factory (formerly Google X).
Objective: to accelerate the deployment of clean energies in power grids.
All the while reducing costs.
AES partners with X, the moonshot factory
AES is working with X to simulate and virtualize distribution networks in Indiana and Ohio.
Near-real-time network virtualization technologies will enhance the customer experience by testing new ideas.
But also by optimizing the grid for renewables, improving reliability and introducing new efficiencies into the system.
“One of the main obstacles to moving to a renewable and reliable power system is having a complete real-time picture of what’s happening on the power grid,” explains Audrey Zibelman, Vice President and General Manager of X Power Grid.
The aim is to build a modern, green network.
AES supplies Google with decarbonized energy
This work complements the 10-year strategic alliance AES formed with Google in 2019 to leverage Google Cloud technology to accelerate innovation in energy distribution and management.
As well as AES’s groundbreaking agreement to provide 24/7 carbon-free energy to Google’s data centers in Virginia.
