We Recycle Solar, a US-based company specialising in solar panel recycling, has entered into a strategic partnership with Nations Roof, one of the leading commercial roofing contractors in the United States. The alliance aims to offer an integrated solution for the dismantling, recycling, and re-equipment of rooftops with ageing solar systems.
The two companies intend to address the growing demand for more sustainable energy infrastructure by assisting commercial building owners in replacing their end-of-life photovoltaic installations. The solution combines certified, zero-landfill recycling of solar modules with roof renovation services that meet safety and manufacturer warranty standards.
An industrial response to ageing infrastructure management
We Recycle Solar operates the only solar panel recycling facility in the US permitted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ensuring regulatory traceability of processed materials. Nations Roof, which has a field team of more than 1,100 technicians, reports an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.47, a key safety performance indicator in the construction sector.
The partnership aims to facilitate asset management for operators and property managers by extending the useful life of rooftop equipment while reducing the logistical and environmental impact associated with its replacement. The offer targets solar developers, investors, asset managers, and industrial property owners with large commercial rooftops.
Toward an integrated lifecycle approach
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by We Recycle Solar to expand into adjacent solar-related sectors through industrial collaborations. By partnering with an established construction player, the company aims to build a value chain around photovoltaic equipment circularity and secure large-scale access to the recycling market.
The two companies also plan to contribute to the standardisation of end-of-life management practices in the commercial solar sector. They aim to leverage their respective expertise to build a technical offer aligned with the requirements of major stakeholders and regulators.
