Renewable energy producer Enfinity Global has signed a long-term contract with VW Kraftwerk GmbH, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, for the supply of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) from its solar assets in Italy. The total contracted volume amounts to 400 GWh over ten years, or 40 GWh per year, covering part of the energy needs linked to the carmaker’s electric operations.
An energy traceability tool for the automotive industry
Guarantees of Origin certify that an equivalent volume of electricity injected into the grid comes from renewable sources. In this case, the certified energy is generated by Enfinity’s photovoltaic power plants in Italy. The contract is designed to support VW Kraftwerk’s operations in deploying energy solutions for the group’s electric vehicles.
Enfinity Global currently holds a global development pipeline of 37 GW, including integrated solutions combining solar production and battery storage systems. In Italy, the company claims a pipeline exceeding 8.6 GW, contributing to the country’s energy security targets.
A long-term contractual strategy
The signed agreement represents an example of cross-sector partnership aiming to integrate energy assets into industrial supply chains. Guarantees of Origin can also be used as reporting tools for environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria, in line with European transparency requirements.
Enfinity Global continues to position itself as a strategic supplier for global companies seeking certified sourcing solutions. VW Kraftwerk GmbH integrates these instruments to support its operational electrification goals, without necessarily engaging in direct energy production.
