North American developer Scout Clean Energy held a blade signing event at the Nimbus Wind Farm, located in Carroll County, northwest Arkansas. The symbolic ceremony, bringing together financial partners, contractors and landowners, marks the project’s progress towards completion, expected early next year.

A project launched nearly a decade ago

The Nimbus project was initiated in 2016 and is based on an installed capacity of 180 megawatts. Once operational, the wind farm will generate enough electricity to power more than 40,000 homes annually. The electricity will be fed into the grid of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) through the Dry Creek Substation in Green Forest.

MasTec Renewables, responsible for construction, began work at the end of 2024. Despite variable weather conditions and a complex terrain, construction continues without major disruption. The site involves over 50 landowners and mobilises numerous workers specialised in large-scale wind installations.

Infrastructure backed by an international player

Scout Clean Energy is a portfolio company managed by Brookfield Asset Management, a global player in infrastructure and energy project management. The development of the Nimbus wind farm illustrates the group’s strategy to strengthen its position in regional electricity markets from renewable sources.

The project is based on a multi-party collaboration model including industrial and financial partners. The blade signing event held on-site serves as a recognition of the work completed and brings together the various stakeholders around the nearing completion of the construction.
