Natural gas reaches highs in Europe and the United States driven by cold weather
Natural gas prices have surged to levels not seen since 2022 in the United States and since seven months in Europe. Cold waves are boosting heating demand while European stocks remain below seasonal norms.

The natural gas market is experiencing strong tension on both sides of the Atlantic. In the United States, the price jumped to $5.578 per million British thermal units (BTU), a level not seen since 2022. In Europe, the Title Transfer Facility (TTF) Dutch futures contract, the European market benchmark, reached €41.915 per megawatt-hour (MWh), its highest level since June.
