KHNP Submits i-SMR Reactor Design Approval Application in South Korea
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power submitted on February 27 a standard design approval application for its 170 MW i-SMR reactor with South Korea's nuclear safety commission. Commercial deployment is targeted for 2033.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) submitted on February 27 a standard design approval application for its innovative small modular reactor, the i-SMR (Innovative Small Modular Reactor), to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) of South Korea. This integrated pressurized water reactor produces 170 MW of electrical power and is intended for domestic use and export. Standard design approval, valid for ten years, simplifies future construction and operation permit applications for reactors of identical design, according to the NSSC.
