Framatome will supply high-density low-enriched uranium (HD LEU) silicide fuel elements for SCK-CEN's BR2 research reactor, located in Mol, northeast Belgium. The contract follows the successful qualification of three Lead Test Assemblies (LTAs) delivered in April 2025. Framatome's CERCA subsidiary already supplies almost all European research reactors and a significant share of reactors worldwide. As the European Court of Auditors criticizes the EU's lack of an international nuclear strategy, this contract illustrates efforts to strengthen the continent's nuclear supply chain.
