Fengmiao, an offshore wind project by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in Taïxan, will have a capacity of 500MW to 600MW.

A connection in 2027

Fengmiao is located about 35 kilometers off the coast of Taichung City in the western part of Taiwan. The wind farm will have a capacity of 500MW to 600MW for connection to the grid in 2027. The government will define the final capacity later this month.

Thomas Wibe Poulsen, partner at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, says:

“We are very pleased with the grid award to Fengmiao and look forward to expanding our contribution to Taiwan’s energy transition policy. Taiwan is a key offshore wind market for CIP, and Fengmiao adds to our existing portfolio in Taiwan. We will now accelerate our efforts to finalize procurement and offtake agreements to support our final investment decision.”

CIP was entering the Taiwan offshore wind market in 2017. Fengmiao is CIP’s third offshore wind project in Taiwan. In addition, in April 2018, CIP was securing approximately 900MW of capacity on two projects currently under construction.

A third project

This is the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farm with a capacity of 595MW. The second offshore wind farm in Zhong Neng has a capacity of 298MW. In addition, the latter is a joint venture between CI IV and China Steel Corporation (CSC).

CIP manages ten funds and has so far raised about €19 billion for energy investments. The company aims to manage €100 billion in renewable energy investments by 2030. In addition, the company has approximately 400 employees and 11 offices worldwide.
